Child of Light is a side-scroller RPG developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The game mixes two genres such as the turn-based RPG and the 2D platformer to create a fantastic world full of light and shadows. It has been released for several platforms, including PC and consoles such as PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and WiiU. The developers describe the game as a playable poem, and I agree. The visuals of the adventure are watercolor-like, as if you were playing in a fairy tale.
Once you download it, you will become Aurora, the daughter of the Duke of Austria, who is in charge of recovering the three light sources: the Sun, the Moon and the stars. In your quest for returning home, you will rely on some trustworthy friends such as Igniculus the firefly, Finn the Capilli and lots of people you will meet on your way. You must defeat the evil Queen of Night and her minions; dark creatures that inhabit the forests, to recover the light and return home.
Graphically speaking, this videogame is nothing less than stunning. Every environment is taken from fairy tales, as well as the characters of Lemuria. You will find odd creatures such as spirits of talking animals, witches, ghosts, etc. and amazing places such as dungeons, castles, villages, etc. Undertake a magic journey in the world of Lemuria, unveil all the mysteries, face your fears and recover the stolen lights.
Apart from being delighted by the amazing graphics, you will have to develop your character and explore the scenery because you are playing a side-scrolling RPG. Every character of the Aurora's party has a tree of abilities that you are free to develop. You will unlock the abilities as you progress through the adventure. The best abilities are at the end of each branch, and each tree has several branches. In order to customize your favorite character, you will have to deeply investigate the branches and decide how you want your character to be.

Don't be a fool about the childish appearance of the title, it has a very hard combat system and is solid as a rock. You will have the usual controls to attack, defend, cast spells and use items. The main element in the combats is the turn-meter, a bar that displays the moment in which you and your enemies will attack. Your characters and the enemies are displayed with a little icon in the bar, when the icon reaches the end of the bar, you can carry out your actions.
In regards of exploration, it is the usual in 2D platform games. At first, you will only be able to jump a little, drag some objects, etc. However, as you go on in the game, you will be able to fly, and the exploration mechanics changes radically. You will face huge vertical sceneries that you can go over in all directions, full of secrets and traps that will deplete your health. You will also encounter various enemies, and if you contact them, the combat will start.
